Oxus Mining plc ("Oxus") (OXS.L) is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Kappes to the Board as a Non-executive Director.

Daniel Kappes has substantial experience in the mining industry, having worked with Kappes, Cassiday & Associates("KCA") since 1972, of which he is co-founder, coowner and President. Mr Kappes is a registered metallurgical engineer as well as a registered mining engineer. He has been project manager on a number of KCA's gold/silver projects, many of which have become operating mines for KCA's client companies. His recent management activities included the design, construction supervision and operations management of a complex acid chloride leach plant in Itos, Bolivia.

Mr Kappes' appointment will also include his serving on the Independent Committee of the Board.

Further to announcements released on 6 December 2002 and 15 November 2002, Oxus confirms that Jonathan Kipps, Finance Director, and Bill Trew have now resigned from their executive positions at MAED Limited, with Mr Trew becoming Non-executive Chairman of that company.
